Another Successful Canning Day! June 26, 2005

Well! We did it again! Paul brought over 5 tubs - 18 qt. capacity each - of tomatoes and here's the yield:
42 qts. of fresh tomatoes
13 qts. of fresh tomatoe juice

The next canning wk-end we do will be solely tomatoe sauce. Since it won't likely be next wk-end, I will feel free to do some Zucchini Bread with the zucchini we did a couple of weeks ago that's in the freezer. We have the best time doing all this! We *really* enjoy the fruits of our labor too. Brinda out!

June 19, 2005 ~ Father's Day & K-Role's B-Day Celebration!

We started off the day by canning Paul's tomatoes, quite the yield! We finished with 26 qts. of fresh tomatoes and 5-1/2 qts. of fresh tomatoe juice. Then we grated 3 gallons of zucchini which will yield 6 loaves of wonderful Zucchini bread. During the weekends from June 5th through today, we have also done 6 qts., 9 pts. of Zucchini Relish as well as 14 qts., 1 pt. of Bread & Butter pickles. Fred, Paul, and Robert all celebrated Father's Day and Carole had her "Mellow Yellow" 41st birthday. I made a wonderful (scratch) Orange layer cake, fried chicken, limas, and mashed potatoes - one of her favourite meals. Tyler had loads of fun in the pool! He is the sweetest boy! We all had a great day!

A Loving Memorial To A Beautiful Person

On Wednesday, June 8, 2005, my Mother's Sister, Velna Erline McLaughlin, passed on to a better life. She was 89 years old and one of the most beautiful people, inside and out, that you'd ever meet. During her life, she had two sons, Larry and John McLaughlin. Her lifelong husband, Mickey (Lawrence R. McLaughlin), passed on before her. They will be together again, after Aunt Erline's first Memorial on July 3, 2005 at 2 pm (PST), within the Golden Gate National Cemetary in San Bruno, CA. (http://www.interment.net/data/us/ca/sanmateo/ggate/index.htm). The whole family will be there, either in person or in spirit. Her final Memorial will be during the first weekend in August of 2005 on the East Coast, with family and friends. May God rest Aunt Erline's and Uncle Mickey's souls and give them eternal peace. Her family, from the East Coast to the West Coast will miss her dearly and celebrate her life. May God Bless you, Aunt Erline, and keep you close throughout eternity. We Love You.

Canning Day! June 5, 2005

Well, today is the day! Loads of zucchini to process into the best darned relish you ever laid tongue to! Paul is having quite the bumper crop so far. Soon, there will be mounds of tomatoes to can as well. That's another wk-end's work! We sure do LOVE the results though! Also, there are two huge briskets to cut up for processing. Should be a full and fun day! Thank God we had an "ugly pizza" in the freezer for dinner...I won't have time to cook! ;-)
